Data and Cloud Security

We do not store your photos, videos or digital items.  Your media is stored in third-party cloud locations of  your choice.  We store only a) your account information and b) the information pertaining to or describing your media, specifically: Chapter Name, Chapter Description, Entry Name, Entry Description, Linked Album Title, Linked Album Description, Share Link, Preview Image and Creator (Author) Name.

This support data is managed with a MySQL Database and stored with Amazon Web Services and uses Amazon’s Relational Database Service for hosting.  For information on the security of AWS, please see this article:  https://www.logicworks.com/blog/2016/02/amazon-aws-ecommerce-cloud-security/

We also use Google Firebase for accessing your media.

Additional Security

Please remember that your content is not stored in MyFamilyArchive.  So even if you were to somehow lose your online MyFamilyArchive account, you would not lose your underlying media which is stored in third-party cloud sites.

An additional feature of MyFamilyArchive prints a physical record of data you have stored in your collection.  This feature is found at My Account > Personal Information > Summary Report, and will present a storable and printable output of your entire collection, including Location Node (person or family where it is stored), Chapter Name, Chapter Description, Entry Name, Entry Description, Linked Album Title, Linked Album Description, Share Link, and Creator.  The file is viewable and printable in Excel and other spreadsheet programs, and allows you to sort your collection by any item, such as by person or by cloud location, etc.
